Welcome to Halo Breathing Space. Whether you are interested in exploring the benefits of Halotherapy, enhancing your breathing with the Buteyko Breathing Technique, or simply seeking a place to relax and rejuvenate, I am pleased to introduce you to the services we provide.

Why Breathing Matters

Breathing is something we do without thinking, yet the way we breathe has a profound impact on our health and wellbeing. Many people experience breathing dysfunction without realising it - whether it’s mouth breathing, shallow chest breathing, or over-breathing. These habits can contribute to issues like asthma, anxiety, fatigue, and poor sleep.

Dr. Konstantin Buteyko, the founder of the Buteyko Breathing Technique, once said, “Diseases occur as a result of diseased breathing. The essence of my technique is, however, in decreasing the depth of breathing.” His research and methods have been helping people worldwide to restore functional breathing, particularly for respiratory conditions such as asthma.

What is Halotherapy?

Halotherapy, or salt therapy, is a natural treatment that involves breathing in dry salt particles within a controlled setting. This practice has been around for centuries, with its roots often linked to Eastern Europe. In the 19th century, Polish doctor Dr. Feliks Boczkowski noticed that salt miners had significantly better respiratory health compared to other miners. This observation led to the use of salt therapy as a remedy for respiratory issues. Today, modern Halotherapy mimics the microclimate of natural salt caves, aiding in respiratory health and skin conditions. Studies indicate it may help decrease inflammation, clear mucus, and enhance lung function. The Halo Breathing Space Salt Room offers a tranquil environment where you can unwind while enjoying this gentle therapy.

What is the Buteyko Breathing Technique?

The Buteyko Breathing Technique (BBT) is a structured breathing re-education method designed to restore normal, functional breathing patterns. It aims to reduce disordered breathing so that breathing becomes more efficient, supporting respiratory health and overall wellbeing. BBT includes techniques to clear the nose, manage symptoms, and reduce unnecessary coughing. Since 2008, BBT has been included in the British Guideline on the Management of Asthma as a method for managing symptoms of asthma.

Buteyko Breathing is an active approach that demands dedication to incorporating breathing exercises into everyday routines. When performed properly, most individuals find these exercises calming, and with consistent practice, they become instinctive, promoting improved health and resilience.

A Personal Journey

My enthusiasm for these therapies originates from my personal encounter with Long-Covid. After facing challenges with my breathing and energy, I found Buteyko and Halotherapy, which were instrumental in my recovery. This motivated me to pursue professional training to assist others in their paths to improved health.
